BARN Leadership Guide

Biblical Foundation & Core Values for Leaders

Welcome to Leadership

Thank you for answering the call to serve as a leader with BARN.

This presentation outlines the biblical foundation and core values that shape our ministry and leadership culture.

As a leader, you are entrusted with stewarding both the vision of BARN and the people God has placed in your care.

Our Biblical Foundation

The Nature of God

We serve one eternal God—King, Creator, and Redeemer—who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

He is perfectly holy, just, loving, and full of truth.

Jesus Christ Our Savior

Jesus, the Son of God, paid the price for our sins through His death, burial, and resurrection. Through Him, all people can be restored to fellowship with God.

The Authority of Scripture

The Bible is God's inspired Word and our infallible rule of faith and conduct.

The Power of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit sanctifies, delivers, and empowers us to live holy lives and serve supernaturally.

Our Identity in Christ

We are no longer slaves but sons and daughters of the Most High God. As co-heirs with Christ, we have both access and authority to bring God's Kingdom to Earth.

Ministry Heart and Posture

Sons and Daughters, Not Slaves

We minister from our identity as beloved children of God, not from a place of striving or performance.

Working From Acceptance

We work hard from a place of acceptance, not for acceptance. Every task is a joy, not a burden.

Ministering From Love

We don't work for love—we work from love. You are encouraged to bask in His love as part of this ministry.

Kingdom Representatives

We refuse to criticize other ministries or people. Instead, we choose to be salt and light, representing God's Kingdom with honor.

Faith in the Supernatural

We believe in God's supernatural realm and pray from a place of faith, knowing that anything is possible to those who believe.

Freedom From Condemnation

There is no condemnation in Christ Jesus, therefore we do not condemn others. It is finished—we are free from sin.

The 15 Core Values

These values define how we lead, serve, and create family culture within BARN.

Each value includes practical application to help you live them out with your team.

Core Value 1

Every Voice Is Heard

Each person on your team is valued and has beautiful contributions to make. Be open to ideas and actively encourage people to share and be themselves.

In Practice: Create space in meetings for input, ask team members for their perspectives, and genuinely listen to understand.

Core Value 2

Respect the Gifts

Each member has a gift from God that must be honored. Make room for varying opinions and giftings, celebrating diversity.

In Practice: Identify and affirm each person's unique strengths, create opportunities for people to operate in their gifts.

Core Value 3

Believe the Best

Assume the best about each other's actions. Create a safe space for conversations and forgiveness when offenses occur.

In Practice: Give people the benefit of the doubt, ask clarifying questions before making assumptions, and address conflicts directly with grace.

Core Value 4

Serve Paris and Beyond

Make a commitment to love and serve the nation or city where you're working. Speak words of life over the nations.

In Practice: Pray for your city, look for opportunities to bless your community, and maintain a positive, faith-filled perspective.

Core Value 5

Family

Pray for each other, serve each other, and enjoy each other. We can disagree without letting go of our relationships.

In Practice: Schedule time for fellowship beyond work tasks, remember important events in team members' lives, prioritize relationship over results.

Core Value 6

Lead by Example

Communicate clearly with your team, be accountable, and create a safe working environment for others.

In Practice: Model the behavior you expect, be transparent about expectations, respond promptly to communications.

Core Value 7

Faithfulness

Be faithful to your assigned role and responsibilities. Follow through on commitments, stay dedicated, and keep your word.

In Practice: Meet deadlines, show up prepared, complete what you start, and communicate quickly if circumstances prevent you from fulfilling a commitment.

Core Value 8

Accountability

Be both accountable and teachable. Remain open to feedback from your leaders and those you serve.

In Practice: Receive correction with humility, ask for feedback regularly, implement suggestions, and admit when you need help.

Core Value 9

Honor

Communicate with honor and love to each team member. Never gossip or slander—instead, protect one another.

In Practice: Speak well of team members in their presence and absence, address issues directly rather than talking about people.

Core Value 10

Confidentiality

What happens with your team—especially any disciplinary matters—should not be repeated. Cover one another in love.

In Practice: Keep sensitive information private, don't share prayer requests or personal struggles without permission.

Core Value 11

Character Over Gift

While we respect everyone's gifts and anointing, good character is paramount. Display humility, love, patience, kindness, and gentleness.

In Practice: Prioritize character development in yourself and your team, address character issues with grace.

Core Value 12

Time

BARN requires dedication and time commitment. As a leader, attend all events, meetings, and training. Prioritize BARN in your schedule.

In Practice: Plan ahead, protect your BARN commitments in your calendar, arrive on time, and stay for the full duration.

Core Value 13

Leaders Practice Holiness

Set an example in character and holiness. We're not speaking of perfection, but of a lifestyle that honors the Lord.

In Practice: Make choices that reflect Christ, address sin honestly, pursue spiritual growth, and create accountability.

Core Value 14

Leaders Love

Love one another well, pray for one another, and walk in love with one another.

In Practice: Regularly pray for your team members by name, show practical care during difficult seasons, celebrate wins together.

Core Value 15

Leaders Unify

Be unified around BARN's vision and mission. Support one another, speak well of each other, and keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

In Practice: Champion the ministry vision, resolve conflicts quickly, refuse to participate in division, and actively build bridges.

Creating a Healthy Team Environment

As a team leader, foster a family atmosphere where people feel:

  • Safe to be themselves and share honestly
  • Valued for who they are, not just what they do
  • Supported through challenges and celebrated in victories
  • Equipped to grow in their gifts and callings
  • Connected to one another and the larger BARN family

A Final Word

Leadership in BARN is not about authority or position—it's about servanthood and love.

You are called to lay down your life for those you lead, just as Jesus laid down His life for us.

Lead with humility, serve with joy, and always remember that you are loved by the Father.

Thank You

Thank you for your faithful service. May you be empowered by the Holy Spirit to lead well and bring glory to God in all you do.

"And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity." - Colossians 3:14
